Rescue dog is stuck at shelter for 94 days before his “Favorite volunteer” brings him home

Animal shelters should serve the purpose of being a temporary home of dogs and cats who are eagerly waiting to meet their human families. Sadly, there are those who wait for their new life to begin for way too long. This makes the animals sad, depressed, and unwilling to wag their tails or even ask for a pat on the head.

Bubba Jr. is a sweet dog that spent 94 days at the Lewis & Clark Humane Society in Helena, Montana. It’s not that the staff doesn’t take great care of all these canines and felines, but having a place they would consider a home is something they all deserve to have.

Bubba Jr.’s story only confirms that good things come to those who wait, because this amazingly cute dog got the happy ending he so desperately wanted. However, it seems that he wasn’t really aware his new human daddy was his favorite volunteer.

The staff found this dog’s story cute so they decided to post it on their Facebook page in a form of a diary entry from Bubba Jr.’s perspective. People fell in love with the dog and the story that took the Internet by storm.

Read it below. It will melt your heart.

Dear Diary,

It’s Bubba Jr. again. It’s day 94 here at the shelter and something feels a little different– my favorite volunteer came in for our daily walk and snuggles, that was pretty normal. But then we did something different; my staff friends brought me up to the front desk! I never get to go there and it was fun. They all started giving me kisses and pats and saying “Good Bye,” they are silly, I’ll see them tomorrow.

My favorite volunteer seemed really excited today, he kept asking me if I was ready! Ready for what? He was signing lots of papers, I can’t read but they seemed important.

After lots of pictures and hugs from my shelter friends I headed out the front door, I never get to do that! My volunteer put me in the car and we headed out of the shelter.

He keeps telling me we’re going home! I don’t know what that means but I can’t wait to find out. I’m going to miss all the friends I have made, but I can’t wait to see what happens next!
